At our Boulder practice, we use a safe composite resin to achieve a very lifelike result. Using a special mixture of plastic and microscopic hybrid glass particles, these composite resin fillings are strong and durable and can be used on front and back teeth.

Because white fillings are so natural in appearance, they can also be used for cosmetic smile enhancement, to close spaces, replace chips and whiten or reshape teeth.

Amalgam/mercury/metal fillings can crack teeth since the metal expands and contracts deep inside the tooth with thermal changes. Any hot or cold change can start a slow cracking process inside the tooth. Sometimes it’s only after the removal of the metal filling that we see the damaging cracks in the tooth. These same thermal changes are not present in white, bonded fillings since they do not conduct temperature changes like metals.
